What I did...

As one of the earliest UX Designers at Litigiven, I played a pivotal role in bringing CaseBrainZ™ from concept to market. My responsibilities included:

  1. Design Execution: Translated product requirements and user stories provided by the product manager into design solutions. Created user journeys, UX flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs with detailed guidelines.

  2. Design System Development: Built a comprehensive design system from scratch to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform.

  3. User Testing and Iteration: Conducted usability testing sessions with end users to gather feedback and iteratively refine designs.

  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Worked closely with product managers, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to align on features and push development forward.

Break into Some Challenges

During the development of CaseBrainZ™, we faced several significant design challenges:

Tight Deadlines
Delivering the MVP within three months required efficient design processes and rapid iterations.

Evolving Requirements
Continuous changes in design directions and new feature requests necessitated flexibility and quick adaptation.

Complex Domain Knowledge
The legal industry’s complexity required a deep understanding of legal processes and terminology to create effective designs.

Technical Limitations
Constraints imposed by development capabilities and system infrastructure influenced design decisions.

Problem

Legal professionals struggle with inefficient case management, time-consuming legal research, and cumbersome documentation processes, leading to reduced productivity and increased non-billable hours.

Inefficient Case Management: Traditional systems are fragmented and unintuitive, making it difficult for lawyers to track cases, organize documents, and communicate effectively.

Time-Consuming Legal Research: Finding relevant legal citations requires extensive manual effort, with existing tools often missing critical supportive cases.

Cumbersome Documentation Processes: Drafting legal memos is labor-intensive, diverting time from higher-priority tasks.

How Might We...

Streamline Case Management
By creating an intuitive platform that centralizes case information and simplifies workflows.
Enhance Legal Research Efficiency
Through AI-powered tools that deliver precise, relevant citations quickly.
Automate Documentation
By providing tools that assist in drafting legal documents efficiently while maintaining accuracy.

Solution Overview

We introduced three core features in the MVP release of CaseBrainZ™:

1. Case Management

The Case Management System is a comprehensive solution designed to streamline legal practice operations for professionals. It offers an intuitive interface where lawyers can efficiently track cases, organize documents, and manage client communications all in one place.

2. Citation Search/Graph Tool

The Citation Search Tool is an AI-powered research feature that revolutionizes legal research for professionals. The tool utilizes advanced natural language processing to understand the context and intent of the proposition. It then analyzes a vast database of over 30 million legal entries to deliver a curated list of relevant cases that specifically support the user’s proposition. Additionally, it provides a citation graph visualization that illustrates the relationships between cases, ensuring no important citations are missed.

3. Legal Memo Generator

The Legal Memo Generator is an AI-assisted tool that streamlines the drafting of detailed and accurate legal memos. It features an interactive assistant that guides users through a series of questions to collect essential case details. Based on the provided information, the tool employs advanced AI to generate a comprehensive memo draft, incorporating facts, legal standards, and relevant precedents. Users have the flexibility to edit and refine the memo to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

    User Problem

Legal professionals face significant challenges in conducting efficient and accurate legal research due to outdated tools, information overload, and the inability to find precise citations that support their cases.

    What's Their Stories?

As a Lawyer,‍I want to search through as many sources as possible to find the most accurate legal findings that pertain to my case, so I can provide the best factual case possible. I want sources to cross-reference for deeper contextual search, preparing for argumentation properly, and to see relationships between sources to validate their accuracy.

As a Legal Clerk,I want to find accurate legal documents associated with cases I work on to support in document preparation and factual information.

As a Paralegal,I need a way to chase down citation leads, delve deeper into contexts and sources to prepare briefs, memos, and papers with the most accurate facts.

As a Potential Plantiff,I need to research similar cases to understand my own, helping me prepare properly and find the best law firms to represent me.
